About Sharon (Sat Dhyan)

Out of Yoga and Meditation - Art Emerged

Sharon/Sat Dhyan is a self-taught intuitive artist whose daily practice of Kundalini Yoga awakened her artistic instincts and talents.

Her art began during her Kundalini Yoga Teacher Training, where part of her practice included keeping a forty-day journal. Interestingly, someone had given her a set of pastel chalks right around the same time, and rather than keeping a conventional written journal, she began her own visual journal of pastel chalk drawings. By taking herself out of her comfort zone through the artistic process, she discovered a way to investigate her inner world. Sharon/Sat Dhyan found a sense of healing and release through the process of creating daily art pieces and quickly discovered this was a medium that could invoke healing, joy, and discovery for others.

"Whatever presents itself to me, is what comes forward in these drawings. I never begin with an intention or idea at the onset or during the art process, I allow whatever arises in the moment to come out...it's this presence that enables me to be a channel for healing through this creative process without expectation or attachment. My Kundalini Yoga and meditation practices allowed me to fully open myself to the creative art process and enable the colors and images to speak for themselves and the healing for others to happen organically."

She creates both pastel chalk and collage pieces that all have healing properties. The pastel chalk pieces come as note cards and prints, while the collage pieces are only available as prints.

From November 2018-mid-March 2020, Sharon/Sat Dhyan took her studio on the road while traveling the world, doing art whereever she found herself. You can find this artwork here in the Portfolio page.

Kundalini Yoga, Breath, & Meditation Instruction

Sharon/Sat Dhyan  is a KRI certified Kundalini Yoga teacher and she has taught Kundalini Yoga and breath and meditation north of Boston. When she was in her training program she wore white and covered her head with a turban, however she no longer follows this regime when teaching. When she's not teaching yoga, meditating or creating new art pieces, you can find her birding, walking or hiking in nature, creating SoulCollage® cards, traveling, or volunteering.

She gives gratitude to all of her teachers, her classmates & peers, her guides, and all magazines and photographers whose images she uses in her collage pieces.
